Lewis, Be Brave is the second single from Liverpool-based Clean Cut Kid‘s forthcoming album, Hiss, slated to be released jointly on Team Love and Alcopop Records in Spring 2022. Recently returned from a tour as a duo (opening for Orla Gartland!), Clean Cut Kid continue to stretch their loving arms out to friends and fans alike.
“A good friend came to stay with us a few days after losing his Mum. I’d never witnessed someone so completely and utterly consumed by grief. His pain was like a force that changed the air in every room he was in. ‘Lewis, Be Brave’ was written simply to tell him, ‘I tried my very best to understand what you were feeling.’”
– Mike Halls, songwriter
Stay tuned for more to come from Clean Cut Kid, and expect the newest video soon! Tour dates are scheduled across the UK with Team Love label-mate Lorkin O’Reilly. Dates are below.
We are so happy to inroduce the newest addition to our roster, Kyle Morgan. You may already know Kyle as Starcrossed Losers, or as member of Tumbling Bones, from Portland, Maine. Kyle also plays guitar on Our Lady Star of the Sea, Help and Protect Us by the gracious Tica Douglas, which was released on Team Love in 2017.
Queens NY-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kyle Morgan grew up in central Pennsylvania, where he spent countless Sunday mornings amidst the broken strains and coffee breath of his church congregation. His first record, Starcrossed Losers, became the alias under which he would go on to release two more, Bind Us Anew and Strange Hesitations, each featuring his distinctive conglomeration of Americana styles, from stripped-down acoustic ballads and love-lorn parlor laments to roaring alt-country and throwback 60’s rock’n’roll. His newest single, “Do You Still Have Some Fight In You,” is coming to Team Love Records November 12.
Deeply pleased to present the new single by Casey Scott, Incunabula. The track is the first from the album Orrery, which will be released in the Spring of 2022. Follow Casey in all the places, listen now on Bandcamp, and save to your collections. Mailing list subscribers, we thank you for visiting the advance look.
On Incunabula, as for all the tracks on the record, I wanted the drone to be front and center. I’m always chasing the feeling of a warm, “mental massage” that comes from a good drone. Spare dub piano and and a simple beat anchors and orbits the pulse. The name of the album, Orrery, refers to this sense of a center (the drone) and elements of lesser mass circling around this dense center.
To me, music making is about connecting to mystery, creating an environment in which our thinking takes a backseat to stillness and wonder.
Casey Scott played bass in Athens, Georgia based bands Drip and Lona, with Andy LeMaster and Clay Leverette, in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, when he started working with Omaha, Nebraska’s Bright Eyes. He toured with the band in 1999 and 2003, and recorded on Lifted. In art college, he specialized in photography, and began making his own ‘Empty Music‘ as non-intrusive background for projections his photo and video work. Radiohead’s OK Computer, Flaming Lips The Soft Bulletin, Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works and DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing were in heavy rotation. He made music during this time with a cassette 4track recorder and a Boss sampler. Experiments in self-production continued through Pro-Tools, Garageband and eventually Ableton.
Since 2011 he has studied Yoga and Meditation (200 RYT), which tuned him into the uses of drone, chanting and repetition in spiritual practice. This meeting of home recording, traditional and electronic instrumentation, and long, held tones have resulted in the current set of songs, ORRERY. Incunabula is the first single from the album, which will be released in Spring 2022 (tape, digital), on Team Love Records.

Jamie Saft Trio explore the shape of Billy Strayhorn’s classic, “Lotus Blossom,” and celebrate the release with a video directed by the multi-faceted artist Adam Goldberg, starring the elusively joyous Wigmono.
Listen in all the places, add to your playlists, tell your friends. A timeless magic conjured by Jamie Saft and friends to honor the memory of the great Jerry Granelli.
“Lotus Blossom” is a magical composition written by the great Billy Strayhorn. Duke Ellington used to close concerts with this unique piece. The version presented here is dedicated to the memory of my friend and mentor Master Musician Jerry Granelli, whose brush work and positive aspect shined through the Peanuts score music as the drummer for the Vince Guaraldi Trio. Jerry spoke often of the Buddhist principle of “Nowness”- of committing to each unique individual moment. It is in Jerry’s memory that I present this sweet version of “Lotus Blossom.” Enjoy.
